The 2021 Carnival of Viareggio will take place from 18 September to 9 October. Five parades of allegorical floats on the Viali a Mare, scheduled for 18, 26 September, 2, 3 and 9 October, for a “Universal Carnival”, dedicated to all traditions, stories and cultures of Carnival in the world.
It is the first time, in almost 150 years, that the Masked Courses of the Viareggio Carnival are scheduled between the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. A calendar revolution caused by the pandemic. A unique and extraordinary edition for the city of Viareggio, commissioned by the Carnival Foundation and by the artists who are working in the Citadel’s hangars to complete their gigantic allegorical constructions.
